W. L. Gore and Associates, Inc., a leading manufacturer of medical devices, is seeking a Product Specialist to drive new product development strategies, implementation of these strategies, and the launch of the resulting products. The central responsibility of a Product Specialist is ensuring the product's fitness for use. Furthermore, this individual will support his/her products by acting as the primary interface with customers and internal resources including technology, manufacturing, and sales and marketing associates. The product support activities will include product concepts, product design, product planning and forecasting, product pricing, manufacturing oversight and market analysis. The role of the product specialist is global in scope and is centered on identifying and understanding clinical and market needs, identifying and understanding technical capabilities and developing winning product strategies. The role involves team interactions with a variety of disciplines including engineering, manufacturing, biological sciences, and clinical medicine, regulatory, legal, business, marketing and sales. Specific activities and responsibilities of this role include: identification and championing the product design, development and manufacturing; development and management of project plans with focus and an urgency to achieve technical, regulatory, clinical, manufacturing and sales milestones; and providing extensive customer contact with a focus on product support and training. Product support activities will include initial clinical evaluation through full commercialization, business plans, pricing, forecasting, manufacturing oversight, and market analysis.



Qualifications

An advanced technical degree in engineering, medical science, life science or physical science is required, and a Ph.D is preferred. Experience in product development and/or product management in the medical device field is required. Knowledge of regulations such as GLP, GMP, ISO and other domestic and international regulatory requirements is a plus. Individual must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work independently is essential; however, the ability to be a team player is the key to success in this role. Requires availability to travel extensively.
