Salary: Annually: $40,631.00 - $59,752.00
Under general supervision this position will review and approve grading and other, plans, working with Community Development and other departments; while interpreting plans, specifications and ordinances for owners, developers and contractors.
Typical duties:

• Reviews project plans and specifications submitted by consulting engineers and land surveyors
• Reviews and processes Grading Permits and Hydrology Permits
• Under supervision provides engineering support for Community Development, Public Works, the Flood Control District and other departments as directed
• Provides customer service to permit applicants, contractors and the general public as applicable and when required
• Interprets plans and specifications for contractors and determines contractual compliance with engineering standards and specifications
• Monitors engineering construction activities to ensure compliance to contract plans and specifications
• Coordinates material testing and reviews test results
• Acts as liaison between the County and various parties involved with engineering construction projects
• Prepares accurate time and progress reports for both design and construction projects
• Completes special projects independently
• Under general supervision of a registered civil engineer, performs engineering feasibility studies and related design work to include:
• Hydologic calculations and analysis
• Hydraulic calculations and analysis
• CADD design and development of preliminary plans
• Prepare cost estimates
• Performs related work as assigned
Essential functions include: driving, standing; walking; sitting; lifting and carrying (up to 20 lbs.); Pushing and pulling (up to 20 lbs.); working with and around others; working alone; working with interruptions; repetitive motion hand/ wrist/ elbow/ shoulder; vision acuity (near/ far/ color vision) for inspections; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch for working with electrical/ mechanical systems. Environmental factors include working outside part of the time.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and two years related experience; OR any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
This position is non-exempt from overtime.
Preferences: Preference will be given to those applicants having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
The ideal candidate will have AutoCad or ArcGis experience; project management experience; construction management experience; and engineering feasibility study experience.
Note: The range listed is the entire salary range. The hiring range is $40,631-$46,725, annual equivalent, DOE.

- Apply academic theory of engineering and principles of engineering to find solutions to complex engineering problems
