This 20 hour per week position is located at Coconino County Board of Supervisor Lena Fowler's office in Tuba City, AZ. The hours are generally 10am to noon and 1pm to 4pm, Monday through Thursday. The office is closed on Friday and closed for lunch from noon to 1pm. The position requires a slightly flexible schedule due to meetings and meeting set up. The position is a center point of County information in the community. The individual will need to work closely with other departments and agencies as well as work well alone in the office. Under supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in assigned field; performs related work as assigned.
Typical duties:

• Formats, composes and types correspondence and other documents from written drafts and dictating equipment on routine, complex and confidential matters
• Schedules, gathers materials and prepares agenda for various meetings
• Takes and transcribes minutes of meetings and other proceedings
• Prepares reports and maintains records
• Maintains control and assures availability of files and other materials
• Establishes and maintains complex filing systems
• Answers questions requiring knowledge of departmental rules and procedures
• Exercises discretion and judgment on minor administrative decisions
• Processes and distributes confidential and sensitive documents
• May oversee and train staff as assigned
• May maintain department budget accounting records
• May answer and route incoming phone calls
Essential functions of this position include: sitting; working with and around others; working with interruptions; hearing and speech for communicating with co-workers and customers; hearing to follow written and verbal instructions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist); touch/finger dexterity for telephone and computer work, filing.
Minimum qualifications:
Three years experience in performing clerical or administrative work within subject area; OR, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
This position is non-exempt from overtime.
Preferences: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook experience; basic bookkeeping and/or invoice experience.
The ideal candidate works well with elected officials, professionals and the public; is self-directed and reliable to work in a one person office; maintains confidentiality; has front office receptionist skills; proper phone etiquette; strong customer service skills; excellent written, electronic and verbal communication skills; and an interest to desire to learn governmental processes.
